What I love about drawing on the train is it gives you a real challenge, You could be drawn for 20m or just 2. Unfortunately this man had to get of at the next stop but we had a lovely chat about his university studies.
It is amazing what detail you can get in a short about of time, I am planning to do some drawings in rush hour, will see how that one goes.

Illustration on the underground
“Being an illustrator based in London and commute into town regularly on the tube. Sitting on the train and always on the lookout for inspiration, I often sketch the people around me - on one particular day recently I wanted to draw the man reading a book in front of me. Looking in my bag, to find I only had a pen but no paper.
I started to draw on my copy of Metro, which worked surprisingly well, giving a a new layer of texture.”

Travel Drawings Just Got Better
Travelling on the train yesterday I decided to give it and go and draw on my iPad, using an app called ‘Brushes’ I have attached a few quick sketches that I did. The thing I love most about drawing on my iPad is that you can zoom in and draw, so you can get detail you would never be able to get with a good old fashioned pen and paper.
