Illustration on the underground. — Another day on the underground, drawing away.
Once again, on the train with no paper apart from the news paper and I can help myself but to draw on it! Unfortunately the lady I was drawing was only on for two stops, but you could call it a happy accident because I quite like the simplicity.

Beautiful Colour
This was one of my older projects, and found it images on my hard drive. After a little editing in photoshop I was rely happy with the result! so am now sharing it with you!!

What I love about drawing on the train is it gives you a real challenge, You could be drawn for 20m or just 2. Unfortunately this man had to get of at the next stop but we had a lovely chat about his university studies.
It is amazing what detail you can get in a short about of time, I am planning to do some drawings in rush hour, will see how that one goes.

“Being an illustrator based in London and commute into town regularly on the tube. Sitting on the train and always on the lookout for inspiration, I often sketch the people around me - on one particular day recently I wanted to draw the man reading a book in front of me. Looking in my bag, to find I only had a pen but no paper.
I started to draw on my copy of Metro, which worked surprisingly well, giving a a new layer of texture.”
